To provide a safe environment for women and families while working to end homelessness, one life at a time.

Description

We are a housing first agency for women and families facing homelessness, we hope that our volunteers come to us with compassion for others and a mutual respect for their commitment to serving our community.

Featured Opportunities:

Reception volunteers provide front line service as a main greeter and support for the agency during daytime hours. The calm in the storm, reception volunteers keep us afloat when the phone rings, visitors check in, and clients need assistance. Reception Volunteers also assist guests and staff with various needs and tasks. Primary tasks include answering the phone, door, assisting with shelter check in and responding to various client needs. This is a 2-3hour, weekly commitment, Monday-Friday between 9am-4pm. This position is great for anyone who enjoys welcoming others, is friendly and good with people, comfortable in a secretary role and able to handle varying requests.

Shelter Aids work diligently alongside residents and staff to make sure everyone is taken care of and shelter is running smoothly. While interacting with all residents in a positive and engaging way, aids take initiative, work with dedication, and have a passion for serving residents with respect and care. May include sorting and stocking donations, resident and program support, and shelter operations and routines. This is a 2-3hour, weekly commitment, Monday-Friday between 5pm-8pm.

As a volunteer in our computer lab, you can work one on one with our residents to encourage them towards their goals through assisting with online application, basic resume writing, and job readiness. While we need to do what we can to get the job, the most important part of this role is being a listening ear, a confident companion, and advocate for our underserved residents seeking housing and job opportunities. 18+ years old, Shifts available Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, 2-3 hours per week with a seasonal commitment (recommitments available every 4 months)
