Independence First

Independence First is a nonprofit and advocacy agency that empowers people with disabilities to live independently in the community. We have over 40 programs and services that work toward this end, including personal care services, independent living skills, peer support, assistive technology, and more!

Description

Volunteers will assist staff facilitators with classes, groups, and workshops such as e-gaming, game nights, cooking classes, gardening, adaptive hiking, and technology training. Volunteer shifts vary based on areas of interest but will usually occur weekday afternoons or evenings.

Note: Volunteers are required to have a background check before starting their work. Some experience with people with disabilities preferred but not required! We ask that volunteers please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, or other scented products in our building for the safety of people with chemical and environmental sensitivities.
